Central Boulevard and Watershed Plaza
Central Boulevard has been identified as an ‘Entertainment Street’ in the City of Burnaby’s 2017 Metrotown Downtown Plan.
As a major east-west street on the south boundary of the new Metropolis, Central Boulevard will become the Main Street for the new downtown.
Connecting to SkyTrain, Central Boulevard will serve as a key entryway to the new Watershed Plaza, the Civic Library, Central Park and Bonsor Community Centre.
Watershed Plaza will be a series of terraces that step down to Central Boulevard, providing a variety of uses and activities. In addition to a potential location for the City’s proposed festivals, street closures, farmers markets and programmed events, the Plaza will be the location of a significant Public Art Feature that is intended to be a major focal point and place-maker, and that can be viewed by the thousands of people from the SkyTrain and Central Boulevard.
The art feature and plaza will also serve as the gateway from the SkyTrain station to the Downtown.
