A Customized Framework
Many of the memorable streets around the world are known for their street trees. One of the main objectives for the master plan is to ensure there will be large trees within the public realm and particularly on the streets. The goal is to reach 20% tree canopy for the entire site.
Tree plantings will be used throughout the site including along streets, in parks and in urban plazas.
Trees will also be planted on roofs and structural tiers of new buildings to further develop the neighbourhood character and environment of the Metropolis.
Trees improve the liveability and walkability of our cities in a number of ways, including reducing stormwater run-off, increasing air quality, storing carbon, providing shade, improving health, and reducing urban heat-island effects.
